Collection: Youlihong Porcelain

Youlihong porcelain (釉里红, literally 'red inside the glazing') is a colouring technique which consists of painting with copper oxide based pigment between two layers of glazing. This technique requires a high skill of painting and firing in order to achieve rich colours. The pigment, which is initially grey, will turn into a beautiful red colour and in some areas into a greenish hue. A certain degree of crackle is characteristic of this technique. Of the thousands of kilns in Jingdezhen, only a handful of them can achieve bright colours with youlihong. Our selection consists of items of exceptional deep red and bright green colours.
